Bio:
Unlike most DJs who see themselves as part-time entertainers in night clubs on the weekends, DJ Mitch has been a 24/7 hard core music lover who has devoted himself full-time to the electronic dance culture as a DJ, music producer, music journalist, party organizer, radio disc jockey, and even retail record store’s dance buyer for the past 12 years.

DJ Mitch has become one of the most innovative DJs in Taipei’s underground dance scene ever since stepping out of his apartment and pumping his first funky techno set with the rising sun at a major outdoor rave party in the summer of ‘97. To become a true follower of DJ Mitch, an open-mind and independent appreciation for music is required. DJ Mitch’s music style is a wide-ranging evolution from minimal techno, alternative dance, soulful house, and groovy tech house. No matter what, though, you can count on DJ Mitch to always keep testing the boundaries when he leaps into a new music era.

DJ Mitch has spun at all major clubs in Taipei city, including Spin, 45, Alive, Texound, inHouse, Whisky, and Room 18. He has shared the stage with Takkyu Ishino, DJ Tasaka, Mark Farina, Paul Damage, Miss Ill… to name a few, but the monthly dance event called “Sundae” was his most pride and joy. “Sundae” was hosted by DJ Mitch and three other friends, and the goal of the party was to echo the spirit of New York’s legendary tea party “Body and Soul.” DJ Mitch invited the best house DJs in Town, including DJ Lim Giong, DJ Victor Cheng, DJ Jimmy Chen, DJ Mykal, and DJ Shiuan to provide the quality dance groove in sound, and collaborated with different photographers, illustrators, graphic designers, and painters to create an artistic space for people to come together and celebrate.

DJ Mitch’s approach to spinning also evolved with the technological advances in recent years. From the turntable, to the CD player, and then to midi controller, DJ Mitch has embraced the digitalization and used the technology to express even more of himself through the music. His magical craft of utilizing Ableton Live and Torq Xponent upgrades his DJ set from a series of traditional track-mixing task to an organic and creative live performance. The two sets, “Take no time to dance to dry and high” I & II, posted here are strong evidence of this.

Off stage, DJ Mitch never stops sharing his passion toward music in other forms. He constantly publishes articles and interviews with DJs like Paul Van Dyke, John Digweed, Marco Bailey, and James Lavelle…etc, in the magazines and on the internet. He believes it’s also the best way to spread the message and ideas as the music itself.
